NYAHATO: 26 Years of Empowering Communities in the Fight Against HIV/AIDS

NYAHATO-; Fighting HIV, One Life at a Time

Introduction

In a world where the fight against HIV/AIDS and TB remains critical, community-driven organisations play a vital role in bringing awareness, prevention, and support to those affected. Naledi Youth Against HIV/AIDS and TB Organisation (NYAHATO) is one such organisation that has spent over 26 years making a tangible difference in South African communities.

Founded in 1997 and officially registered in November 2002, NYAHATO started as a home-based care initiative before expanding its reach. Today, the organisation leads impactful awareness campaigns, provides HIV testing and counselling services, and empowers communities with knowledge and resources.

Vision:

To reduce and eliminate new HIV infections

To improve the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS

To create an HIV stigma-free generation

Mission:

To ensure the reduction of HIV infections through awareness and prevention

To improve the quality of life for those affected by HIV/AIDS

To encourage individuals to know their health status and adhere to treatment

NYAHATO’s Work in the Community

NYAHATO does more than provide HIV testing and counselling. The organisation believes in taking a holistic, engaging approach to awareness. Through fieldwork, door-to-door campaigns, and local partnerships, NYAHATO reaches people directly where they are.

Additionally, the organisation incorporates entertainment, music, and performances into its outreach efforts, ensuring that educational messages are received in a fun and interactive way.

3️⃣ Powerful Testimonies: Overcoming Stigma & Embracing Treatment

📍 Tsiesti James Nikwe (Region 2 – Pretoria)

*“I was diagnosed with HIV in 2007, at the age of 24. At the time, I was a fitness enthusiast, and I couldn’t believe that someone as healthy as I was could test positive. I lived in fear, abandoned my gym routine, and started abusing alcohol between 2017 and 2018. I lost myself completely.

It wasn’t until 2019 that a friend pushed me to take another HIV test. His words – “You look horrible; you have lost too much weight” – became my wake-up call. I started my treatment and joined a support group, which changed my life. Today, my viral load is suppressed, and I am committed to taking my ARVs because I want to live to see my children grow.”*

📍 Thenjiwe Zikhali (Region 7 – Pretoria)

*“I was diagnosed with HIV in 2002 but only started ARVs in 2008. I chose to disclose my status to my family and colleagues, despite the stigma. My husband, unfortunately, did not accept my condition, and we never shared a bed again. He believed HIV-positive people would die quickly.

I never missed my appointments or medication because I wanted to prove him wrong – and more importantly, I wanted to live for myself. Thanks to education from local organisations about U=U (Undetectable = Untransmittable), I now know that I cannot infect anyone, and my children are HIV-negative. That knowledge is liberating!”*

  1. I was put on a traditional herbal medicines by Dr Jekawo who resides in west africa, and I am amazed at my healing thus far. I will continue to post what worked for me and what didn't in more blogs to come (as this one is getting quite long... and I'm not writing a book here - not yet anyway). This discovery has not only helped the way I practice, but it has also given me further insight into the world of Herbal  medicine. I came to know more about Dr Jekawo on Tv Station when I was taking my regular organic coffee at javamania coffee spot I watched the whole scene on how he uses Natural herbs to cure disease like Herpes, Hiv/Aids, Cancers,HPV,Men & Women Infertility,Melanoma, Mesothelioma, Multiple myeloma, Neuroendocrine tumors, lymphoma,Alzheimer's disease, chronic diarrhea, COPD, Parkinson's disease, Als And Diabetes, I was moved by his words then I took a confident step to contact him regarding my health condition Herpes & Prostate Cancer, He prepared his herbal medicine then sent it to me through Courier which I took as it's was instructed and I found myself healing symptoms are all gone I have being watching my health for years now and I finally confirmed that is a permanent cure like he told me at our first conversations so now I'm healthy and happy I purchase his herbal tea which I usually take in the morning before starting my day because it feels good to find addiction on natural herbs than medical drugs so is what I'm doing and loving it more and More to come later on blogs sooner I will be writing my book.I will advise you to contact Doctor Jekawo A traditional herbal doctor, for any kind of permanent cure and herbal remedy.Doctor Jekawo Email Contact: drjekawo@gmail.com Also On Web: www.drjekawo.com.
